MRS. BRIGGS RETURNS FROM VACATION.
Mrs. C. B. Briggs and party returned yesterday afternoon from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Howard Lowder, for the past several weeks.

The trip was made by automobile, and Mrs. Briggs says that Florida may well be proud of her goods roads, for those between Washington and Jacksonville are in very poor condition.

Mrs. Briggs was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. A. J. Davis, from Harrisburg, as far south as Woodbine, Georgia, where she will visit for some time.

The work of getting the Briggs Hotel, of which Mrs. Briggs is the popular owner and proprietor, in shape for the coming winter will commence immediately, and it will not be many weeks longer before that attractive hostelry will open for the season.

To Remodel Briggs and Add Apartments
Mrs. Carrie Briggs, proprietor of The Briggs Hotel at 328 Evernia, announced yesterday that the hotel will be remodeled during the summer in preparation for what is expected to be an unusually good winter season. Four apartments are to be fitted up on the first floor, the remainder of the house to be single rooms. A new feature of the conduct of the hotel this winter will be the serving of club breakfasts.

BRIGGS HOTEL LEASED FOR THE SEASON W. D. Hutchins, of Cleveland, Ohio, has leased the Briggs apartment hotel for the season, with the option of pur- chasing. The hotel has just been re- modeled and decorated throughout, having been changed from one of the most attractive hostelries to an even more attractive and thoroughly up-to- date apartment hotel. It will be conducted on the same plan as decided upon by Mrs. Carrie Briggs, the owner, a feature of the plan being the serving of club breakfasts. Mr. Hutchins is a hotel man of many years' experience in resorts of the north and he is anticipating a pleasant and successful year in his new field. Mrs. Briggs will occupy the "Little Briggs", her cottage, to the east of the Briggs.

MRS. BRIGGS RETURNS Mrs. Carrie Briggs, proprietor of the Briggs hotel, and her brother, "Tunie" Davis, and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Spitzer, of Miami, who have been motoring through the New England states, have returned to this city. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Kaufman, also of this city, accompanied the party as far as Washington, D. C.

North of Richmond they found very cool weather and in some instances the mercury was down to 39 degrees.
While passing through Georgia they encountered heavy rains which made the roads almost impassable, and the only roads that were fit for motor travel were found within a few miles of Brunswick. The 58-mile drive from Cheraw to Camden, S. C., was the worst of all. The party motored as far north as New York City and west from there to Canandaigua, N. Y., returning by way of Delaware Water Gap, Pa. During the 7,000 mile trip the only car trouble experienced was one puncture.

Mrs. Briggs remarked that not a sign advertising Palm Beach was noticeable between here and Jacksonville, while Miami and St. Petersburg had the roadside literally covered with signs and posters telling people to visit their cities. C. O. Davis, who was here three years ago, returned with the party to attend the public school here. Mrs. Briggs found a great many persons planning to come to West Palm Beach this winter.

BRIGGS HOTEL ADDS ANOTHER DINING ROOM Mrs. Carrie B. Briggs has again assumed active management of the Briggs hotel, after two years of retirement on account of her health. Mrs. Briggs has been in business in West Palm Beach for 20 years and has built up her hotel so that it now ranks with the best in the city, both in the way of service and clientele. This year she has again found it expedient to make extensive improvements and has added another dining room and can accommodate 40 people at one time.
