Bluford McDaniel
From the history of the 26th Alabama by Todd Molesworth
Born April 5, 1841 in Fayette County, Alabama and enlisted October 3, 1861.  Captured at Fort Donelson as private on February 16, 1862 and sent to Camp Douglas on steamship Warner.  Admitted to U.S.A. Hospital in Camp Douglas on June 20, 1862 and returned to duty on July 4, 1862.  Sent to Vicksburg, Mississippi and exchanged September 6, 1862.  Given 30 day furlough on October 1 and rejoined Regiment November 1, 1862.  Wounded and captured at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863 while engaged at Culp's Hill and sent to Fort Delaware in early July, 1863.  Took oath on June 14, 1865 and released to Fayette County.
Also in the 26th Alabama Company K was his future brother in law John Columbus Mitchell
Confederate soldier, Bluford McDaniel from what is now Lamar County, Alabama. He was captured at Gettysburg in July 1863 and sent to Fort Delaware. When the war ended and he was paroled in June, 1865, he walked home to Alabama barefoot.
